Global equity indexes are pointing in opposite directions currently after US stocks closed higher on Friday while notching a weekly decline still. Nvidia shares gained 5.27% outperforming market after Mizuho Securities lowered its price target on Nvidia stock to $168 from $175 but kept its outperform rating the previous day, Meta shares rose 2.87% on Friday with the social network giant’s stock remaining the only member of the Magnificent Seven group of mega-cap technology stocks staying still in positive territory for 2025 after it logged its biggest one-day drop since July the previous session.

The Dollar has resumed its strengthening presently. The live dollar index data show the ICE US Dollar index, a measure of the dollar’s strength against a basket of six rival currencies, ended 0.2% lower on Friday.

 GBP/USD accelerated its sliding while EUR/USD reversed its retreating on Friday while statistics office Destatis reported less steeper than feared slowing of German wholesale prices inflation. Euro is lower against the Dollar currently while Pound is higher. Both USD/JPY and AUD/USD reversed their sliding on Friday with the Australian dollar higher against the Greenback currently and the yen lower still.

US stock indexes futures are down currently after ending sharply higher on Friday despite University of Michigan report saying US consumers’ expectations for the future “deteriorated,” with “many consumers” citing a “high level of uncertainty around policy and other economic factors.” The three main US stock benchmarks recorded daily gains in the range from 1.65% to 2.61% on Friday led by technology shares.

European stock futures are mixed currently after closing higher on Friday while Office of National Statistics report showed UK’s economy unexpectedly shrank by 0.1% over month in January. Asian stock indexes futures are mixed today with Australia’s ASX 200 index leading gains while Beijing unveiled “comprehensive” measures aimed at boosting domestic consumption and driving up economic growth.

Brent is extending gains currently as the United States vowed to keep attacking Yemen’s Houthis until the Iran-aligned group ends its assaults on shipping. Prices ended 1% higher on Friday on diminishing prospects of a quick end to the Ukraine war as Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Moscow supported a US proposal for a ceasefire in Ukraine in principle, but sought a number of clarifications and conditions that appeared to rule out a quick end to the fighting. US West Texas Intermediate WTI rose 1.0% and is higher currently. Brent gained 1% to $70.58 a barrel on Friday.

Gold prices are little changed currently . Prices breached $3000 on Friday before eventually edging lower: spot gold slipped 0.13% to $2984.91 an ounce.
